The Expectations

Hire the Best

Select the finest professional musicians, within your budget. Their expertise will give you the best results. Do you want to trust it to a discount band and hope for the best? A true professional experience is recommended.

Leadership

For your event to run smoothly there needs to be one leader that you, your guests, and vendors can count on for direction. Ideally, it would be your wedding coordinator or a designated Emcee.

Preparation

The more prepared you are, the more you can enjoy your wedding. Supply names and pronunciations of your bridal party, presenters and the people giving toasts and blessing. Special dance songs should be requested well ahead of your event

Music

Your bandleader will have a great deal of experience in knowing what works and what doesn’t for your wedding. Trust your musicians. When choosing a special song, try to stick within the style of your band. For example, if you would like a song from Phantom of the Opera, it might be best to just play the recording.

First Dance

If possible, select a song with special meaning to both of you. Unless you have taken dance lessons or are experienced dancers, try selecting a ballad. They are the easiest to dance to and are the most romantic.

Father/Daughter

Choose sentimental songs such as My Girl, The Way You Look Tonight, etc... These are good songs for a successful dance.

Mother/Son Dance

An option is to have this dance as part of the Father/Daughter dance. About halfway through the Father/Daughter dance song the bandleader invites up the groom and his mother to join them.

Bridal Party Dance

This should be a fun, upbeat song to get the party going. Be sure to dance, it will encourage others to enjoy celebrating with you.

Additional Tip

Do not have other areas open for your guests to wander off to. It will greatly reduce the number of people on the dance floor.

The Expectations perform as a 4 piece band and a 6 piece band. Solo instrumentalists are available for cocktails and pre-event gatherings. Quality and appropriate CD music is played when the band is not on the stage.
